About Our CEO
Mel Pyne currently serves as Southeast Region President for ER Hospitals, LLC, overseeing a network of rural hospitals, ensuring their viability in meeting the healthcare needs of their communities.
Prior to his current position, Mel served as Chief Executive Officer for PeaceHealth Oregon, overseeing four hospitals and other healthcare services in western Oregon. He also was Senior Vice-President for PeaceHealth, a regional healthcare system with facilities throughout Alaska, Washington, and Oregon.
Previous to joining PeaceHealth in 2005, Mel served as President for Oakwood Hospital & Medical Center, a large teaching hospital located in Dearborn, Michigan. Prior to Oakwood, he was Chief Executive Officer for Providence Everett Medical Center in Everett, Washington.
Mel earned a Bachelor’s Degree in University Studies from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and a Master’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. His professional career has included work as a management consultant, university instructor, and healthcare executive over the past 35 years.
He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and has held numerous Board appointments, such as: Board Chair for the Oregon Association of Hospitals & Health Systems, Board Chair of the 100% Healthcare Access Coalition, and Board member for the Oregon Healthcare Leadership Council, United Way, American Red Cross, Washington State Hospital Association, and International Association of Organ Donation. Mel has also served as a member of the Rotary Club.
Mel and his wife, Michelle, live in Dawsonville, Georgia. They have four children and twelve grandchildren. Mel’s interests outside of work include family, church, sports, reading, and travel.
