Our Emergency Department:
Welcome to
Emanuel Medical Center’s Department
of Emergency Medicine.
Whenever you, a
family member or friend needs
treatment for an illness or an
injury, Emanuel Medical Center’s
Emergency Department is available
for you. Whether it’s pain in your
chest, a high fever or a broken
bone, our highly trained emergency
team is ready to provide help, 24
hours a day, seven days a week.
Our Process:
Shortly after
your arrival, you will be seen by a
nurse to assess your immediate
health care needs. We call this
triage. You may be asked to return
to the waiting area until a
treatment room is available. While
every emergency is important to us,
some patients require immediate
attention. Therefore, a patient may
be called into an available
examination room for treatment
before you are.
Waiting Time:
The physician
may order certain diagnostic test
before treatment is administered.
Some laboratory and radiology tests
require a longer turnaround time for
results which increases the waiting
time for the patients.
Please be
assure, we will begin treatment as
quickly as possible.
If you feel you
have waited longer than others
please don’t hesitate to ask us when
you will be seen. Remember, our
first concern is with the patient
and sometimes we can not update the
family as often as we would like.
ER Changes:
Our emergency
department provides care for all
patients, regardless of ability to
pay. We will use the information
provided during the registration
process for billing, either directly
to the patient or insurance carrier.
Emergency Department patients may
receive several bills for service;
one from our hospital and one from
the physician who provided care.
Visiting the Patient:
While our first
concern is our patient’s welfare, we
recognize the family’s presence is
an important component in the
patient’s wellbeing. We will make
every effort to keep family members
and friends informed on the
patient’s condition to the best of
our ability, and we will allow
visiting as soon as possible. While
waiting in the Emergency Department,
we ask you to follow these requests;
Please be respectful to others who
may also be waiting and anxious.
Only one
visitor at a time, if there are
several family members, please take
turns.
Visiting time
may be limited depending upon the
medical care and treatment.
Parents must
accompany a child. Siblings may wait
in the waiting area unless no other
person is available to care for
them.
