Hospital CIO Wins “CIO of The Year” Award

Dave Flanders, Chief Information Officer at Emanuel Medical Center, was presented the prestigious “HomeTown Health 2011 CIO of The Year” award at the HomeTown Health 2011 Fall Conference in Callaway Gardens, GA.

The award was given for “providing exceptional leadership in Health IT required to achieve Meaningful Use of Electronic Health Records at Emanuel Medical Center and for making a commitment to education and the adoption of Best Practices while emphasizing technological advances and superior patient care.”

Brian Riddle, CEO of the hospital was quick to praise Dave and his entire team.

“ Recognition of our efforts to achieve meaningful use of electronic health records is well deserved.  EMC is at the vanguard of this important initiative and is a leadership example to other hospitals in Georgia.  The hard work of Dave and his team…and the nurses and physicians who so whole-heartedly embraced digital record keeping…is a source of great pride to all of us here.”

The 2011 Fall Conference was held on November 16-18th and was attended by more than 200 hospital leaders and business partners.

Dave was obviously pleased. “To be honored by so many of our peers in this industry is both heart-warming and humbling.  We all worked very hard to make this a reality and I accepted this award on behalf of all my staff and co-workers at Emanuel Medical Center.  We are a great team!”
