Caring for Caregivers:
As business leaders,
mothers, and wives,
the women of our
area help weave the
social fabric of our
community. They
nurture children,
care for the
elderly, and forge a
more vibrant
community. So it’s
important for these
busy women to remain
fit and strong. Yet
they face special
healthcare needs.
Emanuel Medical
Center meets those
needs through a
facility devoted
exclusively to
women’s health.
Known as the Family
Place, it offers the
women of our
community easy
access to
board-certified
physicians and
nurses who
understand the
unique issues women
face. Feminine décor
and special touches
soften the clinical
environment and
create a calming
atmosphere that
makes women feel
right at home.
Offering an Array of
Services:
As women move
through the stages
of their lives,
their healthcare
needs change. The
staff of the Family
Place realizes this
and offers and
continuum of care
for women of all
ages. Women seeking
advice on birth
control, middle-aged
women struggling
with menopause and
breast health
issues, or older
women worrying about
osteoporosis are all
welcome at the
Family Place.

Fostering Breast
Health:
Breast cancer is a
constant fear for
women of all ages,
and early detection
saves lives. So the
staff of the Family
Place stresses the
benefits of regular
clinical breast
exams and
mammograms. We also
encourage women to
play an active role
in their health by
performing monthly
breast self-exams.
What’s more, the
Family Place takes
these messages into
the community. Local
business and civic
groups may request
free breast health
speakers from
Emanuel Medical
Center’s Speaker’s
Bureau. These
trained specialists
will explain the
symptoms of breast
cancer, how to
correctly perform
breast self-exams,
and other topics to
organizations
through the area.
