First Responder Course completed

Emanuel County Emergency Services started its first responder course in September 2018, and it culminated January 28, 2019.

Paramedic/EMT instructor Corey Monroe instructed the course, along with EMS director Courtney Terwilliger and EMS assistant Nicky Drake.

During the required 156-hour course, those committed to serve met twice per week and were educated and instructed on how to properly respond and assist in the event of an emergency.

“I advised each participant of the roles required for this training. It was very time consuming and did take away from their normal lives. The graduating 13 of 25 individuals showed their commitment by completing the course. With this being the first grant-funded EMT class for the county, I feel as if we have done something really special. I’m very proud of their service,” Monroe said.
